Awards season is finally over, and I thought I'd write my thoughts on the Oscars since tweeting wasn't enough. So, here we go!

I'm just one step away from finishing my year-end-list! Sorry I've been putting off working on my blog, it's been such an awful month for me in terms of health. I cannot really concentrate on anything (including this blog post) and haven't even seen any movies lately. OK, this is not a personal journal. Anyway, just one more post and we'll be finished with all these awards. Today I have to put six categories together in the same post so we can just get over with 2013 quickly. So, here we go!

If it was hard narrowing down my picks for the female performances, then narrowing this list down was probably the hardest. You may be surprised that I've excluded a number of Oscar-contending performances to the honorable mentions section here. It's a ridiculously crowded field and also the strongest best actor field in quite awhile. I had to rewatch some clips of these performances because I wasn't determined enough with the placings. The two biggest jumps are #12 (originally #5) and #3 (originally #7). You're free to ask me as to why I changed my mind.

Seriously though, this was a tough list for me to conjure up. Narrowing down this category to just ten was ridiculously difficult. Not only did I have such an unlimited amount of performances to choose from, I also had a hard time deciding the placings. Anyway, you're not going to see Meryl Streep, Judi Dench, Amy Adams, Jennifer Lawrence and even Emma Thompson here, but it doesn't diminish how amazing their performances are. It's such a crowded field with so many excellent female performances.

At first, I felt like this was the weakest field out of all the acting categories. Not saying 2013 didn't have great supporting performances by male actors, but they weren't as standout as those in the female categories. I couldn't think of anyone else to put on here other than Fassy, Leto, and Franco. Anyway, I had to disqualify some performances from my top 10. Benedict Cumberbatch (August: Osage County, not Star Trek), Emory Cohen, Javier Bardem, George Clooney, and Stanley Stucci came really close. I know, I'm still disillusioned my decision.

In addition to my year-end-lists, I want to break down the four major acting categories and pick five performances that I think are the best for each. And we start with the best supporting performances, but ladies first. 2013 was a great year for this category. It was difficult for me to pick only five since there were so many stellar performances last year. Also, I am acknowledging that this list is not influenced by awards buzz, so my opinions are subjective.

Music is a vital component in movie. 2013 was a remarkable year for movie soundtracks and also an even better one than 2012 which was overall, pretty good. I'm sure last year will be remembered as a particularly banner year for movie soundtracks. There were also plenty of musical moments in 2013, but I'll just put some of them on my Best Movie Moments list that hopefully will be published next.

I absolutely love movie posters, but is it just me, or was 2013 a particularly great year for movie posters? I believe it was. I've only decided to consider those posters that were officially released, so the alternative ones are not eligible here. Also, I've narrowed down my list to 5, instead of 10, because I just want to share the fewest choices possible, despite a number of great posters that were released last year.
